Omri Porat is a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose musical journey is defined by a deep exploration of diverse global traditions, blending them into a distinctive and personal sound.
Beginning as a jazz guitarist and upright bassist, Omri later immersed himself in the world of traditional Flamenco music in Granada, Spain. This pivotal experience sparked his passion for Eastern musical traditions, leading him to study Andalusian music with Elad Levi and Persian music with master Peretz Eliyahu.
His most recent travels took him to India, where he has been deeply engaged in the study of classical Indian music. Omri is currently studying Sarod with master Abhishek Borkar and has collaborated in India with major artists such as Bansuri player Jay Gandhi and vocalist Priya Purushothaman.
Omri regularly performs both in Israel and internationally. He has collaborated with renowned artists including Yair Dalal, Abate Berihun, Elad Levi, the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra, and the Madhav Haridas Quartet.
As a solo artist and as the leader of the ensemble Tiyul, Omri continues to explore instrumental, cross-cultural musical storytelling, crafting unique soundscapes that bridge East and West through deep human connection.

Solo Project

Omri Porat’s debut solo album presents a personal musical journey through melodies inspired by spiritual traditions and Jewish heritage. The album blends his jazz roots with diverse ethnic influences, creating a unique and intimate sound. Collaborating with bassist David Michaeli and drummer Mark Moshayev, Omri crafts fully instrumental compositions that reflect his evolving musical voice and cross-cultural exploration.

Tiyul

Tiyul is a unique musical ensemble led by Omri Porat, with Lihu Baniel and Itamar Gutman as the core members. The group blends global musical traditions into a shared sound shaped by deep human connection. Both their debut album, Shibolim, and their second release, Crossroads, are fully instrumental, reflecting Omri’s commitment to musical storytelling without words and the group’s evolving, collective sound.Throughout their journey, Tiyul has collaborated with exceptional guest artists including Ofer Mizrahi (electric guitar), Eden Giat (piano), Maayan Linik (vocals), and cellist Talia Erdal. These collaborations add rich layers and diverse textures to Tiyul’s unique musical landscape.
